Ushuaia
Ushuaia (/uːˈswaɪ.ə/ oo-SWY-ə, Spanish: [uˈswaja]) is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur Province, Argentina. With a population of 82,615 and a location below the 54th parallel south latitude, Ushuaia claims the title of world's southernmost city.
Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. It is bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range and on the south by the Beagle Channel. It is the only municipality in the Department of Ushuaia and has an area of 9,390 km2 (3,625 sq mi). It was founded on 12 October 1884 by Augusto Lasserre and is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel surrounded by the mountain range of the Martial Glacier, in the Bay of Ushuaia. In addition to being an administrative center, it is a light industrial port and tourist destination. Ushuaia is located roughly 1,100 kilometers (680 mi) from the Antarctic Peninsula and is one of five internationally recognized Antarctic gateway cities; it is one of two South American cities with that status along with Chile's Punta Arenas.

Antarctic Peninsula
The Antarctic Peninsula is part of the larger peninsula of West Antarctica, protruding 1,300 km (810 miles) from a line between Cape Adams (Weddell Sea) and a point on the mainland south of the Eklund Islands. Beneath the ice sheet that covers it, the Antarctic Peninsula consists of a string of bedrock islands; these are separated by deep channels whose bottoms lie at depths considerably below current sea level. They are joined by a grounded ice sheet. Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of South America, is about 1,000 km (620 miles) away across the Drake Passage.
The Antarctic Peninsula is 522,000 square kilometers (202,000 sq mi) in area and 80% ice-covered.
The Antarctic Peninsula is currently dotted with numerous research stations, and nations have made multiple claims of sovereignty. The peninsula is part of disputed and overlapping claims by Argentina, Chile, and the United Kingdom. None of these claims have international recognition and, under the Antarctic Treaty System, the respective countries do not attempt to enforce their claims. The British claim, however, is recognized by Australia, France, New Zealand, and Norway. Argentina has the most bases and personnel stationed on the peninsula.

Port Stanley
Stanley, the small capital of the Falklands, sits along Stanley Harbour on East Falkland. This charming town boasts sea views, cozy cottages, museums, and military monuments. Scattered throughout are signs of Stanley's British roots, such as iconic red phone boxes and traditional English pubs serving fish and chips.

Montevideo, Uraguay
The city boasts historic European architecture and is renowned for its strong art deco influence. It serves as Uruguay's hub for commerce and higher education, as well as its main port and financial center, forming the heart of a metropolitan area with about 2 million residents.
